WHYIFIGHT: Erin Guiney

What’s your name, where are you from, and what do you do?

My name is Erin Guiney! I am from Norwell, MA and I’m a trainer at EverybodyFights Seaport and FiDi.

What makes you a fighter?

I have always been an athlete since a very young age. I have performed in gymnastics, soccer, track, college rugby, running numerous marathons, distance triathlons, amateur kickboxing, MMA, jujitsu and judo. I have always loved the challenge sports has given me and the hard work and dedication it takes to train and compete. I LOVE anything that humbles me and makes me fight harder. I fight to overcome my own self-doubts, and my own demons, so that I continue to grow my self-confidence and be able to share it with others in hopes that they can do the same.

It wasn’t until seven years ago when the fight really started. I became deathly ill and remained in bed for years and went through many intense and life threatening surgeries. I fought every second of EVERY day for years to get better. I knew life wasn’t over yet and that I had a greater purpose to help people!  I know that I am a fighter, and that is why I love boxing. Boxing is the perfect life-metaphor for me.

A fighter can get knocked down a thousand times, it might take a while to get back up, but you should never stop fighting. Never give up!

What inspires you to take the hits and keep on fighting?

I was so incredibly sick for many years where I couldn’t even get out of bed and close to dying. Now that I am able to thrive again, I will never take for granted that I am able to move my body and help inspire others to work hard, have fun and have gratitude for what their bodies are capable of doing.

What is your Fight Fuel?

Fresh raw smoothies, wild blueberries, spinach, banana, spirulina, barley grass juice powder and hemp protein is a daily staple for me! I am very passionate about clean organic plant based foods.

What’s your favorite EverybodyFights class?

That’s tough but BAGSxBODY and TRAINx360 are my favorite.

Who is your favorite EverybodyFights Trainer, and why?

My favorite EverybodyFights trainer would have to be Chris DaViega. He is so passionate, approachable, engaging, and willing to do anything to help a member or co-worker with whatever they need. He works hard and never complains! CDV always gives a killer class!

How do you Fight It Forward?

Teaching. I LOVE teaching! There are few things I love more than teaching class and giving everything I have to push and inspire people and see them having fun. My degree is in exercise physiology but I am so passionate about holistic nutrition and would love to be able to help people in future eat cleaner diets for chronic health issues.
