Why I Fight | Rob Velasquez

July 10, 2019 | Rob Velasquez

What’s your name, where are you from, and what do you do?

Rob Velasquez, from Colorado but live in South Boston, MA. Other than train at EBF Seaport, I work at Boston College High School in the Admissions Department and coach football.

What makes you a fighter?

Just like most people, I have been knocked down in life, but it’s my willingness, grit and positive attitude to keep pushing forward to be a stronger and more motivated person is what makes the fight within stronger.

What do you fight for?

I fight to have a direct impact on one individual’s life every single day. As a teacher, coach and human, I know that my actions can be positively contagious and motivate others to be better! “Fight for a cause, not for applause. Live life to express, not to impress. Don’t strive to make your presence noticed, but make your absence felt.”

What inspires you to take the hits and keep on fighting?

My past and present mentors inspire me to keep my head up and power through hard times. I am a true believer that you are who you surround yourself with, by surrounding myself with positive and passionate people it makes it harder to give up and want to be better than I was in the past.

If you could fight side-by-side with one person, past or present, who would it be?

My Father… he was always my rock. The toughest person I’ve known, he fought through many hard times but always stayed positive toward me, my future and always believed in whatever life decisions I made.

What is your Fight Fuel?

I’m Mexican… sooooo taco’s and burritos. haha. I always try to eat healthy but also life is way to short to eat food that doesn’t taste good. I love to cook, so most of my meals are made with spicy flavor.

What is your Fight Song?

Lil Wayne- Right Above It

What’s your favorite EverybodyFights class?

TRAINxCARDIO or ROADxTRI

Both classes push you to another level of cardiovascular fitness.

Who is your favorite EverybodyFights Trainer, and why?

Dave Bergeron, tough love #bergeron reminds me of an ex-football coach who I had a love/hate relationship with and was always testing me and pushing me to be a better athlete.

How do you Fight It Forward?

I work with high school students outside of EBF, so trying to motivate and mold them into a “Man for Others.”
